Aarohi is a registered non-profit organization, interested in working in the areas
related to Culture, Environment and Society. Aarohi believes that the post-world war
repercussions in the globe are largely economically driven and it has been increasingly
creating tensions between health of ecosystem and growth. The compromises offered
to achieve growth do not only influence the ecological health but there is a significant
collateral damage on society and culture. As a consequence there have been an
increasing number of voices which have been voice about increased marginalization,
loss of livelihood, erosion of cultural identities, break down of social institutions and
so on. Amidst these surmounting tensions, Aarohi believes that there are no universal
categories to offer solutions to global crisis. In an attempt to find such solutions based
on local social, cultural and ecological values, Aarohi believes that there is a strong
need of an appropriate research and dissemination agenda which is locally rooted, and
inclusive.
Aarohi attempts to explore and research in the domains mentioned above to offer
viable, sustainable pathways to advance towards solutions. Such a research agenda
here will be first situated within local cultures and it would also strive to function as a
contestation to modern, universal categories which are used in conventional practices.
